插畫師東尼瀧谷的母親早逝，父親是一個到處流浪的爵士樂手。他那充滿混血兒味道的名字，更令他成為同輩嘲笑的對象。既沒家庭又沒朋友的他，從小便被孤獨和寂寞包圍。當他遇上了比他年輕15年的英子時，兩人即墮入愛河並結為夫婦。溫暖的婚姻生活令東尼漸漸擺脫孤獨。正當東尼以為這是他人生最幸福的時候，英子愛購買名牌服飾的習慣卻越來越失控，購得癖不斷蠶食二人的婚姻，更令英子失去性命。無法接受現實的東尼，找來一位與英子長得一樣的Hisako，並要她每天都穿上英子的衣服….

《東尼瀧谷》改編自村上春樹的短篇小說，導演市川準把村上春樹小說中的「喪失感」和「孤獨感」完全表現出來，再加上[土反]本龍一的音樂，令電影散發著村上春樹作品中獨有的孤寂感。電影由ISSEY尾形和宮澤理惠主演。《東尼瀧谷》在多個國際電影節中均獲得非常好的成績，包括在2004年8月舉行的瑞士羅加諾影展中贏得評審員特別大獎等。

影片改編自村上春樹的同名短篇小說，導演市川準拍出了最濃烈的寂寞情緒：慘淡的色調、虛無的構圖，再加上阪本龍一的簡約配樂，將村上春樹筆下的都市孤獨很好地呈現在銀幕上。宮澤里惠一人分飾兩角，帶領觀眾走出憂鬱的囚牢，好像只差最後一步，又好像是漫漫長路。導演市川準說：「我過去也試過改編文學作品，但這一次不同。若果仍依照舊有模式去製作的話，就無法傳達原著那份深沉氣氛。所以，我採用象徵手法去處理，令他們變得很虛幻的人工化味道。我也想觀眾為角色留下深刻印像，便要求尾形一成與宮澤里惠一人分飾兩角。還有，我利用了旁白，他低沉的聲線簡直是為這部電影而設，讓觀眾與電影世界保持一段距離：一方面可以100%傳達原意，一方面又不受敘事方式約束。這些，都是建基於要『回應村上春樹的文字世界』。」

村上春樹曾入選日本芥川賞及奪群像新人獎的處男長篇小說，原著洋溢着青春的徬徨迷惘，以都市人的感覺和 60年代嘲諷的眼光，描述充滿「空白」與「虛無」的逝去青春。

據說因為導演大森一樹是村上春樹的學弟，劇本又忠於原著，所以才獲授權拍成電影，可是影片被指不太能表現到原著中那種輕鬆中帶點悲哀的感覺，單看預告片便十足電視肥皂劇，有傳村上自此片後，已不大願意其長篇小說拍成電影。

Reptile investigator Dragon Eye Morrison has possessed high-voltage superpowers ever since a childhood accident at a power station.
